Anne and Maynard Bray Maritime Research Center under construction

—The proposed expansion of the Friend Memorial Library in Brooklin, Maine, as reported here in 2024 (see WB No. 296, January/February 2024), is a step closer to reality; the groundbreaking for the construction was started in April 2026. The building will house, among other things, WoodenBoat founder Jon Wilson’s 6,000-volume library and Benjamin Mendlowitz’s archive of photographic slides in what will be known as the Anne and Maynard Bray Maritime Research Center.
